Stefan Lohmann with German Sustainability Award at MEET GERMANY SUMMIT RHEIN-MAIN
Frankfurt/17.11.21 - On the Mainstage of the MEET GERMANY SUMMIT at the Raumfabrik Frankfurt, Artist Relations Manager Stefan Lohmann explained the influence of sustainable live entertainment concepts and the international stars with attitude at the German Sustainability Award (DNP).
Sustainable live entertainment concepts
Stefan Lohmann: "The international stars not only have a positive impact by supporting social projects. Their true positive impact comes from taking their fans with them on the journey to more sustainability. Stars simply reach millions of people differently than politicians. Their reach is enormous. This helps to anchor the topic of sustainability more broadly."
German Sustainability Award
The initiator of the German Sustainability Award (DNP), Stefan Schulze Hausmann, joined us online at the Summit. Moderator Karin Ruppert elicited new details about this year's event from the founder of the most important award for ecological and social commitment in Europe. Among others, Ursula von der Leyen, Joss Stone, Oscar winner Forest Whitaker and Chris de Burgh will receive an honorary award. Many sustainability experts such as Silvie Kreibiehl (Germanwatch), Prof. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen, Prof. Antje Boetius (marine biologist) will enrich the extensive programme of the two-day conference.
Sustainable stars
Stefan Schulze-Hausmann emphasised what he appreciates about the long-standing cooperation with Stefan Lohmann: "His deep knowledge of sustainability, bite, patience and not shying away from prominent names make our cooperation one of the DNP's most important assets."
Artists and honorary prize winners of recent years: Elton John, Jack Johnson, Milky Chance, Jan Delay, Die Fantastischen Vier, Nelly Furtado, Rea Garvey, Jamie Cullum, Angélique Kidjo, Annie Lennox ....
Meet Germany
Tanja Schramm, CEO of MEET GERMANY, the largest German-speaking network of the MICE industry and organiser of the Summit, is also concerned with this idea of networking and cooperation: "We bring together the right partners and solutions for the future challenges of the event industry. Sustainable management and action is one of the great challenges of our industry. That is why, together with Stefan Lohmann, we have launched the initiative '16 Steps to Climate Neutrality in the Event Industry by 2025'."
Climate change is an acute threat to the event industry
Stefan Lohmann: "In the future, companies will operate more sustainably; the Climate Protection Act ensures this. We, the event industry and the sixth largest sector of the economy, have a special responsibility. Many solutions are already available in our industry. It is our duty to become active and to inspire other industries - with which we are closely connected - to adopt sustainable management and sustainable events. According to science, we only have about ten years left to prevent bad effects. Climate change is the greatest threat to humanity and also an acute threat to our business. This year's severe weather disasters have made that very clear. It is now up to us to take action together and set minimum standards for our industry! Let's go creative for events with a positive impact!
