For the second time now, moderator and event manager Bano Diop and talent buyer and artist relations manager Stefan Lohmann are sitting together in the podcast "the event management podcast". In the last episode the two experts got to the bottom of the question "How do you as an event manager integrate live entertainment into your event concept".
This time, however, Stefan Lohmann is acting as an expert for sustainability. As founder of the Sustainable Event Solutions platform and with the publication of his Sustainability Rider and Checklist, Stefan knows his way around. He advises event managers on what they need to pay attention to when implementing sustainable events. Bano Diop accordingly wanted to know from the expert how exactly such planning works.

The Covid-19 crisis brought the economy to a standstill and a new start must be planned. It offers the chance to make it sustainable and environmentally friendly. And this is how politicians and companies now see it: More than 180 European politicians and internationally active companies support a corresponding demand for more sustainability. This is in line with the European Green Deal and the Paris Agreement. A clear sign for the industry! The objective: Sustainable events with a positive impact
Stefan Lohmann implements sustainable event concepts such as the German Sustainability Award. However, he also believes that the event industry has not yet exhausted its potential. A pure compensation, a pure climate neutral balance cannot be the objective. The reorientation can only be sustainable if events are designed with a positive impact on nature, guests and society.
What are the levers for implementing sustainable events?
Parameters there are many, which of them are relevant for the particular company or event, based on the objective. The Sustainability Rider and the checklist help the participants to get an overview. They show which decisive points are to be checked. Thus, the right choice of location can be a decisive set screw in the direction of sustainability.
