Knärzje GmbH

The organic certified Zero Waste beer

Knärzje is the first certified organic zero waste beer in Germany, brewed from sorted bread. Each bottle saves one slice of organic bread from the bin and thus makes a contribution against food waste!

Development, production and marketing of Germany's first zero-waste beer / bread beer, brewed from old, surplus bread. Through our broader interpretation of the Zero-Waste approach, away from packaging alone and towards the food itself, we enable an enjoyable awareness of the topic of food appreciation.

The following benefits are revealed to our customers: A unique taste through the use of a new raw material and thus the creation of a very special beer. Real sustainability: by reducing food waste through the use of saved organic bread! As well as a potentially great impact in general, by raising awareness of the issues of sustainability or food waste in particular and promoting sustainable consumption entirely without
moralistic finger pointing and prohibitions!

Central to our business model is SDG12: Promote sustainable production and consumption patterns. We ourselves use a supposed waste material (upcycling) for the production of a consumer good and thereby combine enjoyment and sustainability. In addition to the distribution of our beer in retail and gastronomy, we also organize events to give more space to the topic of food waste, for example in the context of film screenings or discussions.
