Comfortable & trend-setting sanitary systems

Finizio - Future Sanitation develops innovative sanitation systems & recycling plants that enable waterless, hygienic and user-friendly collection followed by efficient recycling of human excreta.

What makes Finizio so special is the pilot plant for recycling contents from dry toilets, which is unique in Germany. Friendly composting toilet companies such as Goldeimer and Eco-Toiletten also entrust their excrement to Finizio. In 2020, a full 150 m³ of humus fertiliser from the contents of dry toilets (H.I.T.) could be obtained from the leftovers.

This humus fertiliser is now intended to close the human nutrient cycle through agricultural application. This returns nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to the soil and effectively builds up resources. Carbon (CO2), which is absorbed from the atmosphere by food crops, is also found in human faeces and in our humus fertiliser after ingestion. This shifts CO2 from the atmosphere into the field and thus represents a rare opportunity for proactive climate protection (a so-called "CO2-negative technology"). At the same time, this stored CO2 in the soil ensures a higher "humus content". More humus in the soil means more fertility, higher water and nutrient storage capacity - thus also increases the resistance of our soils to extreme weather events (climate resilience)! Compared to conventional mineral and animal fertilisers, this results in the lowest possible nutrient losses through seepage, outgassing and erosion, but a sustainable build-up of fertile soils.
Furthermore, the production of artificial fertilisers causes 1.2 % of global energy consumption. In addition, wastewater treatment accounts for the largest consumption in the municipal energy budget. Finizio offers tangible alternatives here. (www.finizio.de/pilotanlage/)

FAQs

Q To what extent are their services and products sustainable?

To collect your valuable waste, we use so-called dry or separation toilets. These are tested for sustainability and absolute functionality. This is how we came up with the ingenious urine drainage system PeePot. Urine runs along a stainless steel arch in the front area of the bowl into a drain hidden underneath. This reduces odours and is essential for hygienic recycling of solids and liquids.
Sustainability is not only a top priority for our public and indoor toilets: our festival toilet literally sets a world record in transport efficiency. Thanks to the folding and stacking system, we can transport as many as 40 cubicles on an 8 m² loading area, instead of 6 conventional ones, and save considerable amounts of fuel.
