Managing director Ralf Lokay experienced a change in consciousness with the birth of his first child: all substances harmful to health and the environment were banned from everyday life - initially in private. Soon the philosophy also moved into the business and so the Lokay print shop has specialised in sustainable optimisation in printing for over 20 years.
Since 2007 we have been certified according to the world's most demanding environmental management system, EMAS, and since then we have been able to save 90% C02, for example. We make our environmental performance and goals transparent every year in the environmental statement.

It is our core business to optimise all processes according to ecological standards. Even before production, we advise on all aspects of sustainable printed matter. We print exclusively with mineral-oil-free, plant-based eco-inks, and over 90% of our paper is recycled or FSC-certified. We use 100% green electricity and completely dispense with isoprophyalcohol, the climate killer commonly used in printing. We use processless printing plates that are exposed without chemicals and with economical water consumption. Our modern company site in the Odenwald has been renovated according to ecological guidelines. A heating system that does not use fossil fuels utilises the waste heat from our printing presses. Our own rainwater cistern supplies water for flushing toilets and watering the garden. We have introduced Germany's first company bicycle fleet.
Numerous awards and certificates recognise our pioneering role in eco-printing: we are one of the few printers in Germany to be Blue Angel certified for our entire printing process. We are the first German printer to offer Cradle to Cradle certified print products. Among other awards, we have been named Environmental Printer of the Year and Most Bicycle-Friendly Employer.
