Hamburg, 13.12.22 - At the award ceremony of the 15th German Sustainability Award, the artists and honorary award winners ZAZ and Michael Patrick Kelly, who were represented by Hamburg artist relations manager Stefan Lohmann, showed two shining examples of live entertainment with attitude and sense of responsibility.
Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz opened the event on 02.12.22 with a speech that made it clear that sustainable business is the only sustainable form of economy. The President of the Bundesrat, Peter Tschentscher, and the President of the Bundestag, Bärbel Bas, also emphasized the importance of transformative steps in the economy and society in stage talks with initiator Stefan Schulze-Hausmann.
"The event industry in particular offers the opportunity to bring sustainability to life with all senses for millions of fans worldwide. Sustainable events can become part of the solution by making every event have a positive impact on nature and society. The solutions are already in place. Artists like ZAZ and Michael Patrick Kelly are aware of this responsibility. They show attitude with their social commitment and that's exactly why they were honored at the German Sustainability Award," says Sustainability Award Artist Relations Manager and expert on sustainability in the event industry Stefan Lohmann.
Zaz founded the organization Zazimut, which focuses on education and sustainable development. Zazimut brings together sustainability, music and culture. One example is the annual Crussol Festival, which hosts concerts by renowned artists and offers the public free admission to the festival village. On site, visitors can inform themselves about sustainable solutions of tomorrow and exchange ideas in a familiar and appreciative atmosphere. The aim is to convince each and every individual to contribute to sustainable development.
On the 100th commemoration day of the end of World War I, Michael Patrick Kelly presents his 2018 project #PeaceBell - the Peace Bell. The project is evolving from an art project to a large-scale social project with peace as its overarching theme. The project aims to draw attention to the importance of turning away from radicalism and polarizing tendencies in society, and why peace means more than the mere absence of weapons. On its current B-O-A-T-S tour, an 820kg Peacebell cast from Ukrainian war scrap rings a minute of silence for peace. The proceeds from the small "Peacebells" made in connection with the project support the peace village "Neve Shalom / Wahat Al Salam", where Israeli and Palestinians live peacefully together.
The fact that sustainability is the future of the event industry was made clear not only by the musical star guests, but also by D&B Audiotechnik with its sound system that requires 50% less energy for the same performance. The guests were able to experience this performance live at the award ceremony. The audio system nominated for the DNP was used at the evening event by the sustainability-oriented technology service provider BTL Next, which has been equipping the sustainability award for three years.
